Brushing off the dust: Kinds of writers

I've been -- and still am -- caring for my dad, but I couldn't stay away from my blog any longer. I miss you folks!

It might be old news, but Zoe Winters has a fantastic blog post about her writing process. I love reading these kinds of posts and found this one particularly inspiring. She said she writes for 5 or 6 hours a day but when she edits she only works for 3 or 4 hours. I'm glad someone else finds editing harder than writing!

Here's the link to Zoe's article: The 10,000 Word Day.

Enjoy!

  1. Good link. I'm always interested in the processes of other writers. It's encouraging to read that it's possible to become more prolific over time. As a slow writer I always hold out hope that someday I'll be able to hit 5K in a day without a nervous breakdown. 10K, though? That would for sure send me to crazy town.

Welcome back, by the way :)

  3. Kim, thank you! Yes, it was great hearing that words written per day can increase over time. There's hope for me! 10 k words, though, that would be crazy-making. But wouldn't it be great to have a novel -- a first draft at least -- done in a week.

  4. Hi MK! Thanks for the welcome back. I've been floundering for a bit, but I've decided to make writing and blogging a priority. There are a ton of other things going on in my life right now, but I NEED to make time for my writing. That's been a discovery. I write for a number of reasons -- that I would like to sell some books is among them!-- but I've found out that I also need to write for ... Well, for me. Because it's something I do. Like breathing.

Lol okay, that was a long reply, but I wanted to say something like that in my blog, and to Kim, so I just kept typing! :p

Because of the number of bots leaving spam I had to prevent anonymous posting. My apologies. I do appreciate each and every comment.
