Dean Wesley Smith and the New World of Publishing

If you are a writer, or at all interested in the business of writing, Dean Wesley Smith's blog -- as well as Joe Konrath's blog -- is a must read.

Today Dean wrote about writing speed and how that influences which route a writer might be interested in going in -- indie publishing or traditional.  It is one of the best articles I've read on the business of writing.  His wife, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, has a great blog too and she is currently doing a series about the new world of publishing.  Good stuff.

Happy reading. :)

  1. Thanks for the links! The Dean Wesley Smith post is really interesting. I think he's on the right track. Too bad I'm one of those painfully slow writers. I actually met him at the Surrey Writer's Conference several years ago (2004? 2005?) and he read the first page of a story I'd written. He said, "This is good. How long did it take you?" Then he told me to keep doing what I was doing but work faster -- a lot faster. Still haven't figured out how to do that.

  2. Hi Kim, thanks for the comment. By the way, I'm a slow writer too, so if you ever learn the secret to working faster, please do share!
