The sociopathic sidekick is more than just brawn: he is essentially a bad guy kept (mostly) in check by the protagonist. Examples: Hawk in Robert Parker's Spenser books, and Mouse in Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins books. Make sure the person you choose to be your protagonist is the protagonist all the way through. The protagonist doesn't have to be the detective, as long as it's clear they're the main character, the viewpoint character, the one readers Karen Woodwardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497346859460691324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1939271308870333669.post-46226992946399820982017-05-16T23:44:46.336-07:002017-05-16T23:44:46.336-07:00Enjoying this series, it is really helpful in outl...Enjoying this series, it is really helpful in outlining me first murder mystery. I am happy with me murder but need to give greater depth to my detective and sidekick. These are Mother and Daughter, daughter starts investigating but finds mother was a detective/spy before her marriage. I think they are going to swop roles, part way through. Story is set just after WW1.Sylvia (England)https://www.blogger.com/profile/14658826538568918452noreply@blogger.com
